Home Decorating Advice.
Typically, utilitarian Bathroom fixtures on their own beg creative flair in the decor to enliven the space. WALL ART, Pictures and Hangings as in any other room of course is delightful in the bathroom, giving a much needed 'lift'.
There are ways to incorporate it wisely however, which I have personally done for many years using protective measures.
GUIDLINES TO USING ART IN THE BATHROOM Sorry to 'dampen' ;)) the enthusiasm somewhat, but there are potential issues to take note of. Depending on the issues of steam and dampness, especially if there isn't an exhaust fan, it may be necessary to take some cautionary measures.
If the exhaust carries away the steam effectively, there may be little to worry about. However, it is still wise not to hang valuable giclee fine art print or watercolors. Inexpensive prints may be hung at your discretion.
A steamy bathroom may cause moisture to creep inside the framing of a paper print or watercolor. It can create mold, mildew or condensation, as well as cause swelling, wrinkling and water staining.
For home staging purposes, this isn't an issue with the vacant property. It is definitely necessary to guard against, especially for valued pieces of work in occupied homes, whether they are the stager's stock or the clients' property (don't want to mess with that!)
FOR BATHROOM DECORATING WITH ART TRY THIS I have had a framed piece in my bathroom many years with no problem. It is an artprint without glass. I had it laminated and coated with an acryllic finish, then framed. Many art framing shops are able to apply this proceedure. It is actually done quite a lot now, replacing glass, which also eliminates light glare.
