4) BATHROOM DECOR ACCESSORIES
Now to the fun part of the basic bathroom decorating ideas plan. After the painting is done, there are a number of options to play with.
New hardware is an easy effective renewal. Coordinate, not necessarily ‘match’, metal tones with the faucets and lighting fixtures.
TOWELS
Be Careful about ‘decorating with towels’ in interior design. Use lush thick towels for best emotive effect to add a spa-like essence. Stacked them on shelves or arrange creatively in baskets, etc.
Authenticity in living is important to interior design. Make sure towels are fully functional – not merely for decorating purposes – unless you are staging.
Create a lush abundant feeling. ‘Towels for decorating’ alone is guache, especially as they gather dust! Non-functional décor is uncomfortable and time consuming.
ART
Take Caution with framed art in the steamy bathroom. Hang art that resists moisture. There are laminated & sealing methods suitable for bathroom use. Try also 3 dimensional art (sculptural form) and hang other objects as well.
Mirrors are wonderful in the bathroom. Where possible, in addition to the usual vanity mirror, use them creatively in groupings. Use them for their reflective qualities especially in small or dark bathrooms. Place them where you would pictures or art.
Bathroom Decorating Ideas - Theme
It’s likely that long before you began you had a theme in mind. Choose one to fit your personal bathroom fashion. Seaside themes popularly suggest fresh, clean sea air, washed ocean beaches and seascapes.
Be inventive and authentic as you redecorate. Try to avoid the obvious. Suggest a feel or theme. Instead of blatantly hanging a seashells shower curtain, consider seaside colors, real or faux shiplap siding, louvered doors, thirsty textures, a bowl of real shells, a sandpiper carving or seascape.
You may love dragonfly bathroom décor, an Oriental theme, or simply a color theme, each effective. Think of what you wish to experience in your bathroom and how to tastefully set it up.
Small Bathroom Decorating Ideas
1) Unless you have very good lighting, keep the paint color light, bright, airy. Blend towel and accessory colors with the wall color.
2) Use Mirrors to create the illusion of more space.
3) Go up the walls – Accentuating wall height also creates ‘space’. Create a galleria that reaches up high. Hang a large vertically oriented mirror. Stacked art – several pieces racking up one above the other.
4) If you need more storage, mount shelves that are up high – store extra towels and decorative items there. Bathroom wall space is often wasted – this is a great way to use it.
5) Consider painting the ceiling the same color as the walls or slightly lighter.

A Relaxing Bath Treat to Enjoy!
These terrific soaks are Personal Favorites that ease away all the stress of the day - and you may have the ingredients in your kitchen. If not they're easily available.
1) Dissolve into your tub 1/2 to 1 cup each of sea salt & epsom salt. You may add something bubbly if you wish.
2) To the above salts 1 cup of apple cider vinegar may be added. I don't know why this works, but it is marvelous!
Light some candles!
Soak for about 20 minutes. The salts replenish your body minerals & relax you. They also draw out toxins & water, so drink water & relax. Ahhhhh..
A tip - I use the salts frequently and found 25K (55lb) bags of Epsom which is magnesium sulphate (used for roses) at a garden supply store. Always on hand - and very economical!
