That's what effective lighting is all about. Maybe you've spent a lot on great furniture & over-the-top art. You worked diligently with your decorator on the arrangement & just the right color plan. When you dress up for an evening out, you put on your finest, possibly your most expensive apparel, from undergarments to shoes. If you didn't have your hair done, you fussed to get it perfect. You look great, but…… Carefully selected jewelry completes the look, gives you the sparkle factor. There is nothing like a few fine pieces or even a single exquisite one to set off that little black dress perfectly.

However that is in a perfect world. The ideal time to incorporate lighting is before the building stage of a house. Often this is not done with builders wanting the fastest cheapest route to the finish. If you are building a home, it is more than worth it to engage a lighting expert &/or interior designer to design your lighting plan. This becomes much more involved & expensive to do after the building is completed. I am seeing new homes built with scarcely enough lighting. One homeowner I consulted with had for living room lighting a track light over the fireplace and wall outlets on either side of the fireplace, with unsightly cords stringing out everywhere. I estimate this was a $700,000 home with inadequate home lighting provision, to say nothing of decorative lighting enhancement! Short of any serious reconstruction we worked out some solutions.
