HOME DECORATING INDEX
Successful Home Decorating, just one aspect of interior design is achieved using the Basic Universal Conceptual Design Elements & Principles incorporating Architectural Form with Spatial Planning for Balanced Unified Arrangement.
There is a sigificant elemental foundation to interior design, enough to warrant technical and university degrees. The basics prepare for successful achievement of the desired finished effect of the principles of harmony, balance and unity through the elements of design.
Continuing from the previous page, a room is viewed in perspective, as is everything we see, unless our depth of perception is off. Without even thinking or considering it, we employ it correctly or not.
Natural principles are so commonly present, that we frequently don’t register ‘seeing’ them. Again with perspective – something funny happens when we try to draw it. Why is that?
Our logical brain tells us that a chair is shaped a certain way. So we attempt to draw what it that way. Then we're surprised when it doesn’t work. The creative brain is more effectively employed to ‘see’ the reality of the relationship of angles, shapes & forms and how they relate.
Training the 'eye' to see and translate correctly eventually effortlessly fits elements together. From the initial ‘point’ in a room, to the first line formed from it, then direction and flow leading to form and scale, the elements synergize upholding the principles.
There are many interpretations of the elements and principles of design. However they are foundationally secure in their essence.
PRINCIPLES of Interior Design Ideas are the foundations in which the elements are used to create:
BALANCE
· achieved in two basic modes – symmetrical and asymmetrical. It is the relationship between forms in a room.
HARMONY
· just as it sounds – arrangement according to scale, color, form & flow
UNITY
· requires the repetition of elements of varying scale and form
