INTERIOR PAINT IDEAS LIE INSIDE!

Learn to trust your inclinations for the interior paint ideas that are waiting for expression.

That little voice needs respect to develop, until we carry out what it tells us!

The many color characteristics - complementary color, color harmonies, psychology and color therapy, just to name a few impact us everyday.

Yellow – of course is the happy sunshine colour. It is excellent for dingy spaces with little or no light. It positively glows when the sun shines on it. It can be a mistake however, to use it in a bright room.

Green – is the colour of money! Green is a colour of serenity & rest, love and heart. Of course the depth, warmth or coolness will impact effect.

Red of course is passionate! Vibrant and very warm, red is DRAMA in a room, creating and drawing energy to it.

Purple – intense, dramatic, spiritual, the deepest af all colors. It's complementary color is yellow of course, the least intense.

BLUE can be the most difficult color to work with. Unless blue has an electric or yellow base, it grays out, except with just the right lighting. It is best with south or western exposure.

Space Tricks with Interior Paint Ideas

The illusion of more space is created when the ‘edges’ of colour fuse, or disappear. ‘Edges’ or places where colours meet are contrasting, ‘stopping’ the eye there. When the edges of colour are close in tone or tint, the ‘flow’ takes the eye over, with little or no ‘stop’ effect.

Another ‘space’ trick is to graduate colour from darkest on the floor, to lightest at the ceiling

Very often effective interior paint ideas to go against tradition. Ceilings don’t have to be white! A few shades lighter than walls gives the illusion of more height. This is excellent for a low ceiling, attic or gabled ceiling, or one you want to ‘raise’. Dark celings have their place also.

For restricted spaces consider blending or harmonizing floor, wall & ceiling color to give the room more illusion of space when choosing paint color. Remember the effect of space with 'fusing edges'.

Avoiding Mistakes when Choosing Paint Colors

Tips to keep mistakes from getting out of hand, reducing waste of time and materials

1) Heed the advice on buying a small amount to test first.
2) If the color isn't correct, it is easy to try again.
3) Carefully calculate the amount needed and buy it all at once.
4) When a large amount is required, buy a 5 gallon bucket - this way there is no color variation.
5) Color can vary from one can of paint to the next and from one mixer to the next. They merely follow a formula, which can go wrong.
6) Test the color against the colour chip at the store, again in daylight and again where you will be painting it.
7) Always begin painting a new can of paint from a corner.
8) Use paint from the same can for entire walls unless you're certain each can is exactly the same.

Trying to Fix a Wrong Colour Tint? This can be very difficult, if not nearly impossible, which is why paint stores have all those 'mistints' - all the more reason to take your time, select carefully and start small with a small amount to test. It is far easier to try out several color formulas, than try to change several cans of paint.

"Good Luck with your Paint Color Selections! I hope you enjoy color as much as I do & that it enriches your life & Living Spaces as it has mine.
