Not to conflict with advocating color, I am a strong supporter of color and monochrome in their places with effective design elements applied.
Also, not to be at all confused with the default white (& off white) painted walls with regular decor. There is a place for white with colors, furniture and accessories, BUT done properly. Here, we’re talking white on white, texture on texture. An all white room offers restful, simple planes. Adding textural layering with carefully selected room elements creates sensory delight.
White can be a wonderful break from color once in a while. If you’re anything like me, I go through phases with color. I LOVE color! So much in fact that I change it frequently. Then there are times when I just need a break from it. How much of a break you need from color is up to you. Perhaps one room will do it, maybe the whole house! Right now my bathroom and bedroom are white.
